Week 9 Guessing of the Lines - LVH Super Contest

Guessing of the Lines pick record: 18-6

Well, I went 1-1 last week on my picks.  On Sunday, the Cowboys rode the roller coaster from the depths to the peak…and then they removed the safety harness and ultimately fell to their death as they fell to the Giants.  I must say if you aren’t a Cowboys fan, it’s super entertaining to watch their games.  On a given game day, they can lose to the worst team, beat the best team, squander huge leads, overcome huge deficits, ice their own kicker, and you just never know what you’re going to get before the opening kickoff.

The Broncos are equally fun to watch but for different reasons.  They may or may not score a lot in the first 3 quarters, but they always score a lot in the 4th quarter.  If you like points, and you like watching teams that always have a chance to win the game, the Broncos are your team.

Let’s look at the lines and my guesses for Week 9

Chiefs @ Chargers

This is just a horrible game.  I’d rather watch Bob Ross paint for 3.5 hours than watch this game.  Brady Quinn is injured so, by default, Matt Cassel is required to participate.  You gotta love it when the starting QB is about to get yanked, then he gets hurt so the backup HAS to go in, and then the backup sucks worse than the starter AND gets hurt so you have to put the starter back in.  I say the Chiefs drop a full installment of the MEOW! package on us and go Wildcat all game long.  The problem is, Jamaal Charles would be a good guy for the Wildcat, but “Where For Art Thou” Romeo Crennel forgot Charles was on the team.  “Jamaal…Jamaal, Where For Art Thou, Jamaal?”  “I’m right here next to you Romeo!  Just give me the damn ball!”

1 of 2 things is going to happen in this game.

-Matt Cassel comes back and plays like everyone knows he can, like he did in New England, and this game stays close because it’s a divisional game between a really bad team and a pretty bad team.

OR

-The Chargers start doing that thing where they pretend to be the best team in the NFL for the second half of the season, and they dumptruck the Chiefs by 28.

Take your pick.  Mine is Chiefs +7.5

Dolphins @ Colts

Vontae Davis and Coby Fleener are out for the Colts.  Even if it’s minute, these injuries have had at least SOME effect on this line.  Both teams are 4-3.  Both teams were supposed to be very bad this year but instead have winning records and legitimate mathematical chances of making the playoffs.  (I say “legitimate mathematical chances” because neither is expected to win their divisions (the Patriots and Texans are pretty decent), and they will have to beat out the following teams for a wild card spot:  Ravens OR Steelers, Bengals, Titans, Chargers, and Bills.)  So, basically both teams kinda have the same feel to them….

Why are the Dolphins favored on the road when it’s reasonable to think of these 2 teams as being roughly equal?

BECAUSE THE DOLPHINS ARE MUCH BETTER THAN EVERYONE THINKS!  Don’t think Andrew Luck is going to lead his team to a victory at home because he’s playing better late in games and he came back to beat the Titans last week, blah, blah, blah.  THAT’S WHAT EVERYONE IS THINKING!

The Dolphins is the right pick.  I’M 100% SURE OF THAT!  And no, it doesn’t matter if Tannehill (Questionable for Sunday) or Matt Moore plays.

Panthers @ Redskins

Not much needs to be said here.  You’ve got a 3-5 Redskins team that has looked pretty good 7 of the 8 weeks this year.  You’ve got a 1-6 Panthers team who has looked horrible a majority of its games so far this season.  Yet, the line reflects that these 2 teams are equal?

Take the Panthers, and don’t second guess yourself!
